German pancakes, pancake in the oven, Dutch babies- all the same. I grew up with having pancake in the oven all the time just like this but when I got married and tried it on my own, it was never like my mom’s.
All the recipes are just so thin and maybe you like that- and that’s okay! All I ask is that you try them thick so you know how wrong you are. 😉
Thick German Pancakes
- 6 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup flour
- 3 tbsp melted butter on bottom of pan
- With a mixer or kitchen aid mix together the eggs, milk, salt, and flour until smooth.
- Melt the butter and pour it in the bottom of the pan.
- Bake in an 8×8 for 35 to 40 minutes. Any bigger and they will be thinner. (Yep, same recipes, just in a smaller pan.) If you are going to do a 9 x13 then double the recipe for the thickness.
If you haven’t tried my Blueberry Syrup then you are missing out!! You can have regular syrup or just butter but seriously, it’s to die for.
Have it for breakfast or dinner! (Yes, I’m aware it looks like cheesecake in these pictures. Unfortunately, cheesecake is not a usual dinner recipe. Who makes these rules?
