Sweet Stuff


I recently just got back from visiting my family in California for the week and it was awesome. Calvin did great on the plane flights and we were lucky enough to get the whole row to ourselves to and from! Couldn’t have gone smoother. He was so happy to see nana & papa. I was so happy too because I got to be there for Superbowl Sunday! I’m kicking myself for not getting more photos of it. Growing up with five girls, my dad wanted us to get involved somehow so he always gets a bunch of prizes like lipstick, jewelry, chocolate, cash moneyyy, etc. to do just that and it works very, very well. It’s one of my favorite memories! Best dad ever, right?

He made delicious food and I wanted to contribute something to it so my mom and I looked in the church cookbook and found this Sweet Stuff recipe by our neighbor Connie Furgeson. She’s one of those trusted bakers that you know everything she puts in there is going to be gold. Whenever we were blessed with a treat from her we were pretty happy!

I loved this because it literally took a total of probably 5 to 6 minutes to put together and it was done. It was supposed to be all Chex but we didn’t have enough. I think you can do any cereal though. I say use all the leftovers and mix em’ all together.


Sweet Stuff

  • 1 1/2 cups butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups Karo syrup
  • 1 large box Crispix cereal
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1 cup sliced almonds
  1. Boil butter, sugar, and Karo syrup for 2 minutes, then pour over the cereal mixed with the coconut and almonds. Cool on was paper or cookie sheet.


It makes a lot so this is great for a group but if it’s just for you and a couple others, I would half the recipe.


Next time you’re needing a quick treat for late night munchies and Netflix watching, give this a try. It’ll do the trick, for sure.
